You know the notes. Then your body takes over.

Months of preparation come down to a few minutes behind a screen. When your body doesn't cooperate, those minutes don't show what you can really do.

Mindset work and visualization help. But once your nervous system decides you're under threat, thinking your way out rarely works. You need something that works on the body directly.

Your heart is pounding before you play a note
Your bow arm shakes, or your hands go cold and stiff
Your breath disappears right when the phrase needs it
Or the opposite: you go flat, foggy and far away
The science, no woo

Breath is the one part of your stress response you can steer on purpose.

The goal isn't to get rid of your nerves. They bring focus and alertness. The goal is to harness them, so they become an advantage instead of something you fight.

Slow down, calm downSlow breathing with a long exhale lowers your heart rate within minutes. Your body reads it as a signal that you're safe.
Speed up, wake upIf you go flat under pressure, faster activating breath brings energy and focus back before you walk on.
Practise being activatedTraining both directions teaches your body it can be activated and still be okay, and that you can bring yourself back.

What's included

  1. 1
Four live group sessions on Zoom Mondays, 7:30 to 8:30pm ET. Instrument-free: you just need a quiet place to sit and breathe.
  2. 2
Customized breath exercises to practise with your instrument between sessions, so the breathwork carries over into your actual playing.
  3. 3
A private 60-minute session with me booked whenever it suits you, for whatever you're preparing.
Who's leading this

I'm Bénédicte. I've been in that audition room.

I'm the Concertmaster of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony and a Juilliard-trained violinist. I found breathwork while managing my own performance anxiety, and it changed how I walk on stage.

Now I'm a certified breathwork facilitator, and I teach musicians the tools I wish I'd had in school. Every practice I share has been tested where it counts: under pressure, with an instrument in my hands.

  • You're a student or a working professional
  • You're a bit skeptical and want to understand how it works

Questions

Do I need any breathwork experience?

No. I'll guide you through everything, step by step.

Will I have to play my instrument in the sessions?

No. The group sessions are instrument-free. You'll practise customized breath exercises with your instrument at home between sessions.

I'm not a violinist. Is this still for me?

Yes. Strings, winds, brass, piano, percussion and voice are all welcome. Nerves affect every musician's body in similar ways.

Is this spiritual or science-based?

Science-based. You'll learn what breathing changes in your body, and you can judge for yourself.

What if I miss a session?

Every session is recorded, so you can catch up on the replay.

Why is it half price?

This is the very first cohort, so it's offered at a founding rate of CA$300, half the regular CA$600.

I still have a question.

Email me at attuned@benedictelauziere.com and I'll answer you personally.

Give your preparation a body that can deliver it.
